Montgomery “Monty”  Bannerman

Monty is a veteran technology executive who has been introducing advanced, mission-critical distributed power and communications systems, facilities and networks into deregulating markets throughout his 30+ year career. His technology and market experience includes design, engineering, manufacture, market penetration, deployment and operation of the most advanced and disruptive technologies in the United States and over 40 international markets. Monty’s career background includes over 15 years in senior management with leading global infrastructure management consulting, engineering and project management arm of BCE (NASDAQ: BCE) and subsequent positions as CTO, President and CEO with public and private companies involved in large-scale power and communications infrastructure serving government, military, commercial and industrial applications. Monty is a co-founder and Director of ArcStar Energy, where he served as CEO until founding MicroGrid Networks in early 2017. He is a graduate of Mohawk College of Applied Arts & Technology in Canada and post-graduate studies at Bell Laboratories.

Charles “Chick” Wassell

Charles is MGI’s General Counsel and key member of our finance team. He is a former Senior Partner of several major international law firms with deep experience in international finance and risk  management in the power, telecommunications and transportation infrastructure sectors. Charles also served as the General Counsel and head of the Risk Management Department of PLM International, one of the largest U.S. leasing companies with global operations and is a co-founder and Managing Partner of ArcStar Energy, a company which has been providing market penetration, project acquisition and managed development services to global renewable developers, equipment manufacturers and energy infrastructure investors throughout the Americas since 2008.  He is a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Stanford University Graduate School of Engineering and Georgetown University School of Law.

David Simpson

David is responsible for investor relations, strategic partnerships and market initiatives and has an extensive history as an energy and telecommunications industry regulatory and policy attorney (Simpson  Partners).  David’s experience also includes founding a communications software company (PointAcross), a trade association (California Internet Services Providers Association), and a green energy consulting firm (Environmental Futures, Inc.). In his early career David also worked as an investigative newspaper reporter for the New Orleans Times-Picayune.  David has also contributed a significant portion of his career in governance and executive management of  non-profit organizations involved in the field of youth development and education (Aim High & Back on Track). David  holds a BA (History and French Literature) from Williams College, an MA (Political Science and Philosophy) from Oxford University and a JD from Golden Gate University.

Tom Hakel

Tom is MGI’s Chief Financial Officer and has been successfully founding, funding, growing, restructuring, advising, merging and selling  companies in the energy and telecommunications technology, financial services sectors for over 20 years. Tom’s foundational business skills are the financing, valuation and management of fast-growing technology companies.  Tom worked for four years in the financial services consulting practice of KPMG Peat Marwick in San Francisco.  Tom is a graduate of Sonoma State University with a degree in Computer Science and also practiced as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of California.
